The Battle between Lin Dan and Dato' Lee Chong Wei aka rambling

Those who know me know that I'm not a sport fan. In fact, I don't bother at all with sports. Then, what with the entry, you may ask?

I also dunno why. Maybe because I just watched the match between both of them in the All England Series and feel like comment about it. Yea, one of the reason IF I do watch sport is when there's a national player in an international level competition. Haha, patriotism here. Or if I'm betting on the games, which is extremely rare.

Anyhow, back to the game. I'm not gonna say anything bout how Dato' played the game or criticize his skill. Who am I to do so? More like what I noticed during the match.

1st, I watched the game through RTM. As with any sport events aired in RTM, there'll be commentary from them narrating the game. Sometimes, it can be very annoying hearing those people talking non-stop when you are trying to enjoy the match. And it's in Malay. Very fahn (noisy)...

Then, the jersey (is that what you called them or just shirts?) color for the players were very confusing. I mean, normally, Malaysian player wore yellow while the Chinese wore red. It's like that one ma. Or Malaysian wore black like in the final for the Beijing Olympic. This time pula, Lin Dan wore yellow while Dato' wore red. So confusing. When the yellow player scored a point, I would cheered only to realise it's Lin Dan. And it's no help that both of them are Chinese.

I also noticed one fella in the arena that I find funny. He was holding the Malaysian flag with a very-obvious Malaysian (aka Malay) and on his face, there's a China flag painted on it. I thought he was China Chinese who's helping the Malay girl holding the other side of the flag but he also cheered when Dato' scored. A spy? And another fella was telling his friend next to him to look up, persumely to look at his face on the screen. Everyone tries to savour their 15 min of fame.

Throughout the match, I noticed a stark difference between Lin Dan and Dato'. Lin Dan has a certain charm in him. Charisma. Whenever the camera was on him, he looked just calm and confident, a bit arrogant (?). And he is good looking too. While Dato' just lacked this ingredients. He covered up with skills, though still lose to Lin Dan. So sad.

Enough rambling nonsense. Hope Dato' gonna win next time when put against him.

Home Sweet Home

Due to my EXTREME laziness, I just simply summarized what I did these last few days. Nothing special though. Very boring life I'm living.

5th March 09
Right after all my classes had ended, I went to the terminal bus waiting for my ride back Ipoh. Took 7.15pm bus, reached home before 10pm. It's been a month since I come back. Not that long, I know, but still...Few chances in my house, mainly the arrangement of the furniture and all. Miss my adorable little sister very much. And of course my family la. It's goes without saying.

6th March 09
Stay at home all day. Haha. Enjoying the comfort of home.

7th March 09
Went out today to meet with Eric and Chee Hoe. It's been a while since I met Eric and much longer since I saw Chee Hoe. Had lunch at JJ and we talked and talked and talked about what's happened in our lives and all. Gossips around...Yes, I'm quite kepoh (busybody)...Being back in Ipoh, it's nice to converse in Cantonese after a hiatus. Hokkien rules Penang.

8th March 09
Hang out with family. Don't expect to go anywhere. Shit, my assignments! And the upcoming quiz! Crap! And tomorrow I'm heading back Uni. I'm dreaming of sem break now...

Kung Fu Night 2009

Yes, the show was on last Saturday and only now I begin to write about it. No, not because I'm lazy, more like I don't have pictures to include in it. And now that I got the pictures from my friend, I'm gonna do a brief post about it. Yes, my laziness simply outdo my desire to write more than necessary.

OK, the show was fantastic. Saw a lot of martial arts performances by the members of the USM Kung Fu Club. Some of it were good, some were outstanding, while some rather weak. My favourite were the performances by the Shaolin team and Tai Chi team, Drunken Fist, face changing performance by a lady from China (forgot her name), drums and so on. There were a lot of performances and some sketches as well. And Choy Fong was there performing as well.

Lion dance
Performance by the Tai Chi team...beautiful
Can you spot Choy Fong?
Performance by the Shaolin team...entertaining
Drunken fist...amazing body bending

Besides the perfomances from the members, they had invited a lady from China to perform bian lian 变脸 (face changing), one of the Chinese dramatic art, qigong 气功 performance by one of the sifu, and aikido. One thing that I feel like mentioning were the four emcees. While the three ladies were good at their jobs, the only guy emcee were an unnecessary addition to the already almost-flawless group. In fact, if I can overcome my stage fright, I might even be a better emcee than him. Haha...

p/s: Yes! I finally can skate! Though not as pro as I wanted to be, at least I can skate without relying on walls. OK, I did fell a few times, 5 times in fact, but I learned from my falls. Unlike you who so happily said that you did not fall, but did you REALLY skate? Haha *evil grin*...I might even buy a pair of roller skate once I'm really good at it.
